Hello, awesome new people!

I just looked at my stats and they went through the roof today. I am not sure what happened, but welcome! Lately my posts have all been pretty personal, because of my daughter’s search for a service dog, but if you want to get mad at me about meaty dog issues the archives are teeming with them :).

My main categories are Dog Health, Responsible Breeding, Cropping and Docking, Buying a Puppy, and Responsible Ownership. Lots of overlap between them. Lots of comments and discussions and people yelling at me for being bossy. I cordially invite you to join the smackdown.

I miss the dog posts. Sometimes I go back and re-read them because I love them so much and I’ve learned so much from them! Still working on a intelligent rebuttal to your docking article.. but I don’t know that I have good one, lol!

Yeah – when my stress level is a little bit lower I’ll do more. Right now I can’t deal with having to think much beyond the next five seconds!

I love your blog, even hearing about Honour and your puppy search!

I discovered your blog a little over three months ago, and spent the next three days after reading straight through your archives. It was really amazing; the dog articles were so informative (and helped me in my search for a breeder for my new puppy) and the joy of life that your family feels is so clear in every post you make–even the recent posts as you’ve struggled through Ginny’s sudden and devastating loss. I feel awkward commenting because even though I feel like I “know” you guys and the joys and struggles you’ve been through, you don’t know me from the next person. 🙂

Oh, thank you. And never feel awkward – seriously, without my blog friends I’d be running after the mail carrier trying to have a conversation that didn’t involve whether somebody was hogging the bananas. I rely on you all to keep me somewhat adult and grounded, and am grateful for every single syllable of every comment. Even when I am so out straight that I can’t reply, they make my heart happy.

An Agility person I know (with Podengos, as it happens) posted one of your blog entries to her Facebook page. I expect a lot of people ended up reading over a number of your entries. I’ll be checking back! Good luck on your search for a dog for your daughter.

Mystery solved! Thank you; the uptick was rather startling. Maybe not an uptick as much as an upexplosion.

I feel awkward commenting too, but I’m here learning whilst cheering for you, your dogs, and your brilliant girls. Someday, when Honour is ready to tell her own story I hope I am privileged enough to read it. My 7 year-old has many sensory issues and she’s begging for another dog. We’ve been without one since August. It seems impossible to find just the right dog because the last one understood her perfectly. Honour’s comment about “bubbles of goodness” had me cheering for her and it gave me hope that we just might find the right dog again. I’ll keep reading and learning.

I have learned so much valuable information from your blog in the last year or so (I think I found you while searching “How to Pick a Stud Dog”) that I’ve been reading it that I’ve come to consider you as one of my mentors even though we’ve never met! I share links to your posts more than nearly any other site, dog-related or not.

    Keep up the fine work.

Joanna, I love your blog and especially the color genetics posts. Can I link them to my blog?

I also posted a link to facebook when you mentioned your service dog search. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one!

Once you get the agility people, you start getting the specific breed groups on FB… and then things explode. Dogs are the only major reason a lot of people are on FB so dog stuff travels fast. 🙂

LOVE your blog. So many things I’m always saying I should discuss on mine are artfully covered right here.
