Puppy party aftermath and zzzzzzzzzz

I have video and pictures but I’m so tired right now that I need to sleep for a week. The short version is that we all had an amazing time, I felt so surrounded by friends and support that it made me get teary totally apart from the puppies leaving, and here’s the list:

Puck, Quince, Bosco, and Sebastian are still here. Thank God. I desperately need the transition time.

Oberon and Bernard: Went home with Sarah to live with their dad, and will be shown and do everything else that Sarah does with her dogs.

Iggy: Off to Minnesota with my dear friend Sue to be a quadruple-ring dog and live with Great Danes.

Felix: Leaving on a jet plane with Leila to be an agility star.

Peaseblossom: On an overnight visit right now; if things look good I’m very excited for her. More info as it comes.

Moth: Going to Dave’s to live with her aunt Harper and take over the world.

Bridgid: Going out West to be a service dog and hopefully get her toes wet in the show ring too.

Hedwig: Home with Alison and her husband; she gets to stay local and that makes me SO happy.

Titania: Home with Emily, her husband, two boys, and a Great Pyrenees. She will be small but mighty. Also local (yay!).

Zeno: Home with Nancy and David and loved within an inch of his life. Also local (oh my gosh, yay. I am so thrilled with my local buyers).

Thankfully, aside from a rather sobby moment when Iggy left for Minnesota, most of my puppy-related tears have been from laughter. I know these kids are going to be SO loved.

Tomorrow I will be a little more coherent, post new names and new pictures, and also introduce you to a Very Charming Lady. It’s all very exciting!

Zeno is meeting friends and family -, brought gifts and loads of affection. Trying to keep his right ear up. Oh so playful, inquisitive, loves running all over his big yard chasing the blowing leaves. Meeting neighborhood dogs, squirrels, birds… Not sure what to make of the chipmunks! Crating well, but oh how he misses his siblings! Can he howl in the still of the night!

“Puck, Quince, Bosco, and Sebastian are still here.”

    Spoken for?

Ron – sounds like you need Puck! That way I could visit him!

Ummm. No. I would have let you visit, Kim, really I would (this is Kim from Samhain?).

I would love to have Sebastian. (Heck, I’d even leave him intact and show him, even though I want him for obedience and herding.) And Peaseblossom melted my heart. But I have my eye on a litter that should arrive in the late spring that would provide a descendent of Hughie’s sister, without flying a puppy coast-to-coast. We have two – and four would be too many.

But Sebastian is still a tiny bit tempting.

wrt Puck – I don’t need my feet bitten! haha. Really, he would be a bit too much dog for us.

No – I wanted to make sure that the people who were looking for very specific abilities (show, agility, service) had the widest possible range of picks, which means some puppies are “left over.” I hate to think of them like that – most of the picks were very, very close and several people left saying, “I KNOW I should be taking XXX, because he tested perfectly, but my heart just wants this one.” Sebastian was that “XXX” for at least three people! They’re all really, really nice puppies; Sebastian really should go into a performance home because he’s bursting with it, and he’d be finishable if anybody wanted to dabble. Quince is going to be GORGEOUS but may be a little bit low-stationed for hard impact work. I’ll know more as he grows. Perfect temperament for obedience or rally. Puck could do anything. Bosco ditto.

I loved every entry for the “Mystery Litter” and then followed you ever since. Your blog gives me so much pleasure. We love our Pembroke, but I’m also fascinated by Cardis and endlessly helped along by your ideas about feeding, training, etc. I have laughed and welled up over your entries for these two litters, and I envy all your new owners! You have beautiful puppies, and their families are so lucky to have you as a resource.

Damn, and we just agreed to a totally different sort of puppy from someone totally different. Wonder if I can talk husband into TWO puppies…..

Oberon and Zen (formerly Bernard) have settled right in. Trained to pee pads already, rough-housing with the Russell Terrier, eating like gangbusters. Zen is the bold one. He was the first up onto the porch and over, under and around all the furniture. Oberon meets a barrier, sits down, looks up at me and says , “Mommy pick me up please.” Then he pouts when I make him go over it. 🙂

Strong agreement. This dog must be blogged!

Sarah Davis (Shade’s owner) has him – http://wolfwoodcardigans.blogspot.com/. But she updates facebook more often. You may be able to “subscribe” to her – if you look up her name and you see a picture of a Cardigan girl, that’s her.
